“We ended up extending our stay by 2 weeks due to flight cancellations due to Middle East War. Tikalanka were very quick to help us find accommodation and drive us places and we continued our trip in wonderful accommodation and saw even more amazing wildlife and beautiful areas of the island. Thank you so much in what was, for a while, a pretty stressful situation which we decided once we found a flight (which took a while) to make the best of, with your help. Couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you.”

“In general, we have never had bad accommodation in Sri Lanka other than a 3* concrete box near Bentota (booked through Kuoni on our first visit to Sri Lanka). All other accommodation has been good to excellent and including heritage, modern, boutique and tented properties [all booked through Tikalanka]. On this trip, Ceylon Tea Trails was superb in all respects (except the price!!!!), although the location means that it is best suited to local activities (eg relaxation or trail walking) rather than being a base for sightseeing. Our other hotel, Kumu Beach (4*), south of Bentota [Balapitiya], inevitably suffered by comparison with Tea Trails, particularly with food (which is more a reflection of the standards at Tea Trails than a criticism of Kumu Beach). However the hotel makes excellent use of its space and the accommodation is spacious and comfortable.”

“Tikalanka provided an incredible service. I deliberately sought out a small independent company which is exactly what they are, with local knowledge and the flexibility to accommodate changes or requests. Highlights included seeing the sunrise over Little Adam's Peak Ella, the train journey through the hills from Ambewela to Ella, the coast in Tangalle – you just have to go a bit further out from the centre, The [Peradeniya] Botanic Gardens in Kandy with an excellent expert botanist guide, hiking The Pekoe Trail with Mahesh who is a specialist hiking guide, seeing a one-month-old elephant, ayervedic [Ayurvedic] massage and yoga at Samadhi, the food generally!”
