What did you like most about Sri Lanka?

The warmth and generosity of the Sinhalese. Beautiful country and the amazing food and wildlife.

What did you like least about Sri Lanka?

Nothing.

What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?

Amazing.

[Horathapola Estate, Wadumunnegedera; Koddu Kalpitiya, Kalpitiya; Thamarvila Wilpattu, Wilpattu; The Palmyrah House, Mannar; C Beyond Nilaveli, Nilaveli; Lake Lodge Kandalama, Dambulla; Jetwing Lagoon, Negombo]

What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?

Always considerate, polite and very knowledgeable. A joy to have as our guide. Feel we know Ravi very well now. [Travelled with Tikalanka three times and Ravi twice in the past eight years.]

What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?

We preferred to go direct with Sri Lankan Airlines [London Heathrow – Economy Class]. Mack [Mahesh, from our Kandy office] thought British Airways may go from Gatwick. That would suit us fine. [British Airways begins flights from London Gatwick in October 2026 – please ask us for details.]

Any other comments?

Thank you once again for organising our holiday. We had a wonderful time, the only thing with moving it later was the flamingos had migrated but we really enjoyed travelling through the different landscapes and seeing this more northern and eastern part of the country. Koddu was a wonderful stay and met the owner and his French business partner who were the only other people there. [Flamingos are migrant visitors from October to March each year around Mannar Island.]

Nilaveli was amazing. The beach there was so idyllic. Only ones on it (!!!) apart from a few dogs and enjoyed going [by] the tut tut [tuk tuk] into Trincomolee [Trincomalee] to the temple [Koneswaram Kovil, one of the five most holy Shaivite temples on the island].

There’s still more to do!!!!!

Like you I think we've got the bug. Ha Ha.

Our stay at Koddu was amazing. Such a beautiful place and very helpful staff.

We realized when we were there that you could get a boat from Koddu/Kalpitya to Wilappatu [Wilpattu] to one entrance of the safari park and about half an hour by jeep to the entrance. The boatman that took us round the lagoon was operating this service. A good way to get to Wilappatu if you wanted to stay at Koddu. Probably couldn’t do an early start though due to the tides for the boats. May be another option and excursion to offer from Koddu?? [A very good idea which we will include as a suggested excursion for future holidays in the area. Many thanks for recommending.]

It was good to meet Mack for the last part of our trip and really enjoyed Jetwing [Lagoon]. Sadly to the Sri Lankans we were the only ones at three of our stays. [Travelled to Sri Lanka during the Middle East conflict.]

Thank you John once again for sorting us out with a wonderful holiday.
