What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
Variety from wildlife to ruins from ancient civilisations. Also our driver [guide] Kapila was excellent and made the trip so enjoyable.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Too hot!!
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Mixed. Some were excellent particularly the smaller ones but Cinnamon Lodge [Habarana] and Taru Villas [Mawella, Tangalle] somewhat overrated.

What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Kapila was excellent he couldn’t have been more helpful and his knowledge of Sri Lanka and the wildlife was brilliant. He made the trip so much more enjoyable. We would never have spotted so many birds and animals but for him.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
We were fortunate to have booked avoiding the Middle East hubs. We had a problem on the way back. The time between connections at Istanbul was too short and we couldn’t make our flight to UK. We had to get rebooked on the later flight that day which meant spending 6 hours at Istanbul and getting home at midnight. Overall Turkish Airlines were ok but the meals were only so so. [London Gatwick - Economy Class]

Great holiday.
All the arrangements went well apart from the return flight, and Kapila ensured that any additional requests were met.
For us we could have spent one less day at Tangalle since were not particularly ‘beach’ people and maybe spent more time in the hill country and perhaps gone over to the North and East but then we would have needed another week at least! Also it was very hot when we were there but that’s life!
The Middle East war has had a significant effect on the tourist trade and also caused severe petrol shortages. USA doesn’t seem to realise the effect it is having on countries like Sri Lanka.
