Overall it was excellent and very well arranged. The drivers [guides] were very good, in particular Nihal.
With respect to the hotels, I would make the following comments:
Sigiriya [Water Garden Sigiriya] – lovely hotel and grounds but food variable in quality. [Thanks for the feedback on the food quality.]
Adigar's Manor [Kandy] – extremely disappointing. It is located well outside Kandy and it is therefore difficult to get into town. There are no facilities in the room whatsoever, eg tea or coffee. The menu consists of one dish, rice and curry, for a ridiculous price of Rs.18,000 per person. We would definitely not recommend this hotel. [I don’t know what the owners have done to the property but the previous incarnation, The Kandy House, was excellent and the best quality hotel in Kandy which past customers loved. I am so sorry that you had to experience the new, sub-standard version. However, I am shocked and surprised by your comments, particularly since customers the previous month appeared to enjoy their stay at Adigar's Manor – see Kate & Carl]
Camellia Hills [Dickoya] – superb. Fantastic location, service , and food. Definitely our favourite hotel on the trip. [Great to hear that this property lived up to expectations and you had a good time there. I really love it and our customers are never disappointed. An amazing location complemented by excellent staff and good food.]
Kayaam House [Tangalle] – beautiful setting but really too isolated for us. It was difficult to find other places to eat. The food was very disappointing and we usually ate elsewhere eg. serving dreadful frozen fillets of fish when fresh fish is available 50 yards down the beach. Again this is not a hotel we would want to return to. [I will definitely pass on your comments about the food to the management as there is no excuse for frozen ‘anything’ at a top-notch hotel, particularly one promoting wellness and wellbeing… I am sorry it didn’t live up to expectations.]
