What did you like most about Sri Lanka?

People (very welcoming and hospitable).

Varying landscape (beautiful beaches, tea plantations, mountains, waterfalls, National Parks).

Food is also amazing.

What did you like least about Sri Lanka?

The train journey to Ella - whilst travelling through gorgeous scenery – the experience of first class was just like using South West Commuter Train! – it would have been more authentic in 2nd or 3rd class. [We usually suggest 2nd Class (Reserved) train travel. However, only 1st Class tickets were available for this particular booking.]

What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?

We absolutely loved every hotel that you booked for us! The variety was fantastic.

Theva [Residency] hotel [Kandy] was a great location, with super service, food and pool – the décor of the room was a bit tired and could have done with a lick of paint!

Taru Villas [Yodakandiya, Yala] was an exceptional and unique experience to have the bungalow all to ourselves, very high quality accommodation and service.

What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?

We had Ravi. He was excellent as both a driver and a guide. He struck exactly the right balance between imparting his knowledge and knowing when to give us space to spend time as a couple eg Botanical Gardens and Little Adam’s Peak (he offered to come with us but happily let us go on our own).

One of the most memorable parts of the trip was being invited to Ravi’s home where he introduced us to his family, and provide a lovely authentic Sri Lankan meal.

He was very professional considering his wife was ill in hospital and the civil unrest in Kandy – he went out of his way to reassure us everything would go to plan still.

Ravi was so helpful in teaching us Sinhalese after we asked him lots of questions!

We really liked him! He was a very safe driver too and the van was very comfortable.

What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?

N/A we made our own journey via Chennai due to ability to use British Airways.

Please note Chennai airport immigration is frustratingly slow and long winded and if you have customers doing the same please advise them to allow 3 hours for transfer.

Any other comments?

Since Taru Villas was so special, having 2 x jeep safari’s in a 2 night stay was too much, especially arriving 4pm on day 1 and leaving 10.30am on day 3 – it would be better to have made this 3 x nights or have 1 x safari. Timings were 6am and 2.45pm jeep safari on the same day. My husband went to the 2nd one but I stayed around the villa to enjoy the pool.

It was wonderful not to have to worry about anything on the trip. You had taken care of everything and the itinerary was fantastic.

Overall this holiday was a very special fantastic experience due to the organisation and recommendation of Tikalanka. We would have no hesitation in recommending the company to our friends and family.

Based on our recommendation to my business partner [name supplied] he has also booked with you for 3 weeks in July – he has asked if Ravi could also be his guide!
