What did you like most about Sri Lanka?

The friendly and welcoming people, the countryside and all the places we visited.

Scenery, people, wildlife, variety.

The people and their approach to life. The countryside. The wildlife. The culture.

What did you like least about Sri Lanka?

I can’t recall anything I did not like particularly.

Midday heat at this time of year.

The high humidity and temperature. Slow traffic making journeys long and tiring.

What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?

Excellent throughout, particularly the hotels in the Cinnamon group. We were treated like VIPs there. With a few extras in the rooms at Rainforest Edge [Sinharaja] e.g. shelves, it would be a great place to stay rather than average. The views from the rooms were great though.

Very good.

Cinnamon [Lodge] Habarana – excellent and superb food.

Cinnamon [Citadel] Kandy – very good, but spoilt by noisy children.

Cinnamon [Wild] Yala – very good (after they moved us to requested rooms).

Rainforest Edge – potentially the best, but let down by lack of amenities, cold food, and our room was far too hot.

Thaproban [Pavilion], Galle [Unawatuna] – room excellent – food poor.

Colombo [Galle Face Hotel] – nice to be pampered at th end of the holiday.

Ranweli [Holiday Village, Airport] – very good.

What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?

Anura was very accommodation with us and was happy to do what we requestedand go where we asked. We were all genuinely sad when we had to say goodbye at the airport. His knowledge of birdlife and spotting suited us and we managed to see around 150 species.

Anura was great, very conscientious and looked after us well. Flexible in dealing with our requests.

Anura is very friendly and a safe driver with a very comfortable vehicle. A bit difficult to understand at times. Knowledge of birds not that great – but very keen to learn and to accommodate our needs.

What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?

Modern planes on SriLankan Airlines that were comfortable for most of the flights but my back started aching towards the end. In-flight meals were good. [Economy Class]

Good.

Long and tiring. Meals very unappetising.

Any other comments?

Thank you John for arranging this trip for the six of us. It went very well from start to finish (ignoring the little hiccup at Ranweli) and I would have no hesitation in contacting you again when we decide on our next trip to Sri Lanka that I hope will include the Maldives. Please let me know if you want further details on any aspect regarding our holiday.

Very good and varied trip – we spent a long time getting to our different locations so would suggest 3 days as a minimum between sites so that you can enjoy the facilities as well as going on safaris etc. Be careful of checking washing – we have lost a shirt which was replaced by a different one – am awaiting advice to see if they have located it (Cinnamon Wild [Yala]).
