What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Fantastic. Welcoming, set in beautiful locations, great, friendly and helpful staff, good food, lovely rooms, varied settings, peaceful.
Perhaps with the exception of the Samadhi centre, Kandy, which we felt seemed to suffer from benign neglect but with the emphasis on neglect. Felt it needed a manager to smarten certain aspects like clean the laminated descriptions of plants in restaurant, staff dining lunch not left out, helmets not on table in dining room, staff not on phones or asleep. Staff were very nice but having come from accommodation where people paid attention to detail this was the opposite.
[Gill and Mark needed to stay on in Sri Lanka after their flights were cancelled due to the Middle East conflict – the rest of the family flew out at different times – and they booked The Kandy Samadhi Centre as an extra. It was not included in their original itinerary with Tikalanka, which included: Tabula Rasa Resort & Spa, Habaraduwa; Mahoora Safari Camp, Udawalawe; The Glenrock, Belihuloya; Moksha Kitulgala, Kitulgala; Lake Lodge Kandalama, Dambulla; Waterland, Negombo.]
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Ravi was helpful, considerate, English was good, he was friendly, smart and organised. Always knowing where to stop for food or extra activities. If anything we would have liked a little more input on the guiding part – e.g. info on way of life, as we travelled.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
You didn’t organize, but war disrupted.
Any other comments?
We ended up extending our stay by 2 weeks due to flight cancellations due to Middle East War. Tikalanka were very quick to help us find accommodation and drive us places and we continued our trip in wonderful accommodation and saw even more amazing wildlife and beautiful areas of the island. Thank you so much in what was, for a while, a pretty stressful situation which we decided once we found a flight (which took a while) to make the best of, with your help. Couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you. [It was the least we could do considering the circumstances but we are pleased that you appreciated our efforts.]
