What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
The country’s natural beauty, variety of experiences (mountains, rainforest, safari, beaches) and abundance of natural resources were truly incredible. The people were also extremely friendly and welcoming. It was an interesting and unique cultural experience for us. We also had the most amazing local guide (Nihal) – he was so courteous, hospitable, knowledgeable, and in general just a fun guy to be around! The food was also a big highlight for us.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Some of our stops (spice grove, gem museum) seemed to be overly geared towards tourists, and while we found them interesting, I can’t help but wonder if they were the most genuine or authentic.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
All of our accommodations in Sri Lanka were excellent. Comfortable, clean, very helpful/friendly staffs, and convenient locations. My personal favorite was Villa Atulya in Mirissa, but each of them were great in their own way.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Nihal was amazing! From the moment he greeted us at the airport, it was clear how genuinely kind and passionate of a person he is. He struck a great balance of sharing his local knowledge, engaging in conversation, but also giving us our space to enjoy things on our own. We had a great time exploring and walking around Kandy with him, and we were glad to have him join our safari at Yala National Park as he’s an expert bird watcher. Nihal also went out of his way to provide us with refreshments and snacks on some of our longer drives and walks. By the end of our time together, it felt that we had developed a friendship and were sad to part ways! We will absolutely recommend Nihal as a guide to our friends and family, and hope that we will see him again someday.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
Our flights were good and we had no issues. The Colombo airport was easy to navigate. [Arranged through Tropic Breeze]
Any other comments?
We truly had an amazing experience in Sri Lanka! Our only regret is not spending more time, but even more reason for us to return. We’re especially appreciative of the detailed itinerary and planning done on our behalf – this was a weight off our shoulders and really took some of the stress out of planning our honeymoon.
