What did you like most about Sri Lanka?

History, wildlife, people and food.

What did you like least about Sri Lanka?

Dogs. [Strays]

What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?

All very good. We were very pleased with all the accommodation organised for us and the staff we encountered were, as on our first visit, delightful.

Just a bit of feedback on Wild Glamping [Gal Oya] as we gathered few of your guests have stayed there. The facilities were excellent, the staff could not have been better in terms of friendliness, courtesy and professionalism and the food was first class. The boat safari was everything we hoped for but very high water eliminated any chance of seeing elephants swimming as the distance between the islands made this unlikely if not prohibitive. I think you would be very safe in recommending this to clients.

[Waterland, Negombo; Kassapa Lions Rock, Sigiriya; Wild Glamping – Gal Oya, Gal Oya; Kottukal Beach House by Jetwing, Pottuvil; Melheim Resort, Haputale; EKHO Safari Tissa, Tissamaharama; Kalu’s Hideaway, Udawalawe; The Rainforest Ecolodge, Sinharaja; Fort Bliss, Galle; Palm Paradise Cabanas & Villas, Tangalle; Taru Villas – Lake Lodge, Colombo]

What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?

Absolutely excellent! Could not have been better in any way. We were delighted to be reunited with Anura, thank you. He could not have been kinder or more considerate with Mary (and this old man!) and his contribution to the holiday was enormous. I think he will be a pre-condition of any future booking!

What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?

Good. [Qatar Airways – Manchester – Economy Class]

Any other comments?

The holiday went well but was harder than expected as our friend with Alzheimer’s had deteriorated more than we realised. That said, the holiday was successful in its objectives.

There was a preference amongst service providers for small tips to be paid in rupees as apparently there is difficulty in changing small denomination dollar bills.

For future reference you may want to know that we picked up from others some very negative comments about how crowded Yala was with very unpleasant racing and jockeying for position by drivers for particular sightings. A couple we spoke to on a Trailfinders trip were clearly disappointed, verging on upset, by their experience and Kulu described it as “disgusting” and would not personally go back there.

Again, thanks to you [John] and Pathi for all your help. We will be strongly recommending you to anyone who expresses an interest in going [to Sri Lanka].
