“If not you, then who? If not now, then when?” Greta Thunberg single-handedly raised awareness of the risks posed by climate change by staging a school strike last year. Yesterday was “Another Waynwright Day”, a unique event with the worthy aim of encouraging as many people as possible to venture out onto the Lakeland Fells in Cumbria, specifically the 214 Wainwright Fells, to demonstrate their commitment to the conservation and protection of the physical and natural environment. It also officially launched Another Way, a registered charity with a mission to empower people to change their own lives for the health and happiness of themselves, their community and our planet, which Tikalanka wholeheartedly supports.

Lifestyle adjustments are the obvious and definitive way of reducing your carbon footprint, and to encourage family and friends to follow suit, as well as lobbying parliament and challenging the tourist industry for change. Let’s all make this our mission in life for the sake of our planet!

TikaWeeks #10/2018: Sri Lanka update

Posted by John on 11th March 2018

After an unsettling and difficult week in Sri Lanka, it is refreshing to bring some positive news of the island’s commitment to environmental challenges with the banning of plastics from all designated Protected Areas, including all national parks and World Heritage Sites.
