Here is some feedback about our trip.  Please feel free to write or call me if you would like any more information.

  1. Negombo - The hotel was fine [Jetwing Beach], but the beach and the area are not so great.  It was a good place to rest up from our flight, but we were definitely ready to leave.
  2. We loved everything we saw.  We still feel a bit overwhelmed; there is just so much to take in.  We had this same feeling when we visited Norway, for example.  In Norway, the natural beauty was over top, and in SL, the Buddhas and ancient relics are also over the top, but for different reasons.
  3. [The] Kandy House [Kandy] - We did not like being stuck out of town with no place to take a walk or to eat, other than at the hotel.  The meals were very over-priced and not worth the cost.
  4. The train ride was really fun. [Kandy to Nanu Oya (Nuwara Eliya)]  I made several new Sri Lankan friends with whom we talked and ate and laughed the entire time.  The [Jetwing] Warwick Gardens hotel was beautiful, but by the time we got there and the 5:30 am departure to Horton Plains, we were at the place for barely 12 hours.  We did not get a chance to enjoy and explore the gardens.  Hence, for different reasons, like the Kandy House, it was not worth the expense. (Also, there was no hot water...).
  5. [The Rainforest] Eco-Lodge [Sinharaja] - The hotel was fine and of course, the rainforest was beautiful.  We were a little disappointed in the hike - it was too basic and too brief for us.  We had expected more opportunity to see more of the rainforest.

So, even though the above mentions some not so great things, the list of really great things goes on and on endlessly.  We are really glad we took this trip, and are very appreciative of the time and effort you put in on our behalf.  Please feel free to use me as a reference if a future Tikalanka traveler has any questions for someone who has been through what they are going through.
