What did you like most about Sri Lanka?

Our driver [guide], Kapila.

The scenery and diversity, bird watching and nature, food, friendliness.

What did you like least about Sri Lanka?

Barking dogs everywhere, Kalu's Hideaway [Uda Walawe], Kulu Safaris [Yala] (RIP OFF).

Prices (now as expensive as Europe), towns are generally uninspiring outside of the sites - we found Kandy particularly disappointing.

Any other comments?

Sri Lanka is an amazing holiday destination, but it is in danger of putting people off with the prices and heavy tipping culture (relative to quality).

Amazing hotels: Ulagalla [Resort, Anuradhapura], tea plantation ([Ceylon] Tea Trails [Adam's Peak] was highlight of holiday) and [The] Last House [Tangalle].

Disappointing hotels: Lake Lodge Kandalama [Dambulla] (smelly, damp and dark rooms, dirty sheets), Kandy [The Kandy House] (no soundproofing so our Ultimate [Ultra] ground floor room virtually unusable), Kalu's [Hideaway] (poor food and tea and coffee lukewarm - we were ill afterwards).

Kulu Safaris - What's the point? Average food in a clump of trees next to agricultural land with tractors, noise from villages and barking dogs. Half an hour's drive to park and a "luxury king size bed" which turned out to be 2 camp beds pushed together. I would not recommend this outfit now they are outside the park. This was the biggest waste of money of our holiday. John mistakenly talked us into this - and it was one of the most negative experiences of the holiday (we have done plenty of camping safaris - this was the worst).
