The Tropical Islands Tour is a two-island holiday to Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Beginning in Sri Lanka, you will enjoy a tour of
a selection of the major cultural and historical sites on
the island, as well as seeing wild elephants and the tea country,
both cultural icons of Sri Lanka.
You will then fly to the Maldives for a beach holiday in paradise!
Starting in the Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka, you will have the opportunity
of exploring Dambulla cave temples, Sigiriya rock fortress and the medieval capital
of Polonnaruwa, as well as enjoying a jeep safari to see elephants, before
heading south to Kandy, the capital of the last Sinhalese kingdom.
Leaving Kandy, you will continue south through verdant tea plantations and passed
spectacular waterfalls on your way to Nuwara Eliya, the British colonial capital of
the Hill Country the highest town in Sri Lanka at 1900m above sea level,
where you will stay in a luxury tea estate bungalow.
Then on to the idyllic Maldives, with its pristine white talc sand beaches
and warm azure blue water, where rest and relaxation go hand-in-hand with excellent
snorkelling and diving. The Tropical Islands Tour is a 15-day holiday on half board

Day 1
Depart UK for your flight to Sri Lanka, the first of your two islands.
Day 2
Arrive Colombo airport and greeted by your dedicated Tikalanka Tours chauffeur guide.
Transfer to Sigiriya in the island's Cultural Triangle.

Day 3
Head to the medieval capital of Polonnaruwa
for a tour of its historic
temples and exquisitely carved statues. In the afternoon, enjoy a jeep
safari in Minneriya National Park
to see elephants and a spectacular
array of Sri Lankan bird life. Night stay at Hotel Sigiriya, Sigiriya.

Day 4
Early
morning ascent of the rock fortress of Sigiriya
to view the surrounding countryside at dawn
- a very special experience indeed. Tour of Sigiriya's rock palace and
ornamental gardens before climbing the granite massif at
Dambulla to
visit Sri Lanka's finest cave temples with their well-preserved paintings
and statues dating back to the 1st Century BC. Night stay at Hotel Sigiriya, Sigiriya.

Day 5
Head south to
Kandy,
one of the principal points of the Cultural Triangle. Night stay
at Amaya Hills, Kandy. [Superior Room]
Day 6
After an early breakfast, experience the Buddhist puja (blessing ceremony) at the
Temple of the Tooth, which houses Sri Lanka's most revered religious relic.
Kandy is the perfect size to be explored on foot, since the altitude (500 m above sea level)
makes the climate conducive to long and leisurely strolls. A guided walking tour of the
city will take in the Hindu devales (temples), the lake and the municipal market.
After lunch, visit the beautifully kept and well presented Peradeniya Botanic Gardens
on the outskirts of Kandy. In the early evening, enjoy a performance of the famous Kandyan
Dancers and Drummers, with a fire-walking finale.

Day 7
A one-day tour of the Hill
Country, starting with a drive through
tea plantations and passed spectacular waterfalls
on your way to Nuwara
Eliya, the British colonial capital of the Hill Country.
On the way, take a tour of
a working tea factory at Labookellie, followed
by a cup of Broken Orange Pekoe and a slice
of delicious homemade chocolate cake! In the afternoon, amble around
the 'City of Light' and enjoy a little piece of England in the tropics! Night
stay at Jetwing Warwick Gardens, Nuwara Eliya. [Deluxe Room]
Day 8
At leisure. A selection of walks criss-cross Jetwing Warwick Gardens' tea bushes and
fragranced gardens, and mountain bikes are available for the more intrepid guests!
Even binoculars are provided so that keen birders can spot the resident Bulbuls and
flycatchers. Night stay at Jetwing Warwick Gardens, Nuwara Eliya. [Deluxe Room]
Day 9
Leave the upper Hill Country and drop down to the airport.

Day 10
Transfer to Colombo airport for your flight to Male airport in the
Maldives.
On arrival, seaplane transfer to the resort. Harmoniously developed with its environment,
Filitheyo Island Resort takes great care of its natural treasures and remains a tropical
island paradise. The well-appointed, thatched roof villas blend perfectly into their
surroundings and are found along narrow tracks wending through the island's dense
cover of palm trees, which offer a welcome shady canopy. Most of the accommodation

Each villa has wooden floors and teak furniture, a private deck overlooking the Indian Ocean,
