With the approval of a COVID-19 vaccine in the UK and the first vaccinations taking place in the coming weeks, there is finally an end in sight to the bizarre and unprecedented world that has defined 2020 – hurrah and huzzah! There is also tentative news that Sri Lanka will reopen its borders and welcome foreign visitors once again from the beginning of next year, hopefully from 01 January 2021. We will keep you posted with any developments.

In the meantime, to give you a taste of Sri Lanka’s wildlife delights, Sri Lanka Tourism invites you to Go on a Couch Safari, an online virtual expedition through four of its most famous national parks – Yala, Udawalawe, Minneriya and Kaudulla. Settle in and relax on a journey through the surreal heartlands of the island, listening to the sweet melodies of songbirds and witnessing the playful antics of primates on the way. Wandering elephants and the elusive leopard perfectly camouflaged in the undergrowth are to keep an eye out for, too.
