Emirates and SriLankan Airlines agree reciprocal interline partnership

Emirates and SriLankan Airlines have established a reciprocal interline partnership to boost connectivity for passengers of both airlines. The partnership will enable access to new points on each other’s networks via Colombo and Dubai, utilising a single ticket and enjoying the convenience of baggage transfers. 

Sadly, reported elephant deaths in Sri Lanka reached a record high of 439 in 2022, with more than 40% of these deaths attributed to human activities – no wonder there has been a rise in wild elephant attacks. More recently, the hazards posed to elephants by the railway show there is much to be done to protect this majestic and totemic animal.

Although Yala National Park is undoubtedly the island’s most famous, principally due to the frequent leopard sightings, the wildlife reserve’s future is not so sure. With ever-increasing numbers of foreign and local tourists visiting the park, and the inevitable detrimental impact on the fragile environment and timorous wildlife, can Yala be saved?

Sri Lanka, owing to its central strategic location within the Indian Ocean Rim, has been a land of convergence for more than thirty thousand years. Over these millennia Sri Lanka has evolved into an island society representing a vivid ethno-cultural mosaic which complements the natural beauty of its landscapes and its incredible biodiversity.
