On World Environment Day,Tikalanka pledges a commitment to tackle tourism’s detrimental effect on climate change and will draw inspiration from Responsible Travel’s newly launched manifesto for change in the tourism industry, The Fork in the Road. Like us, they are concerned about its future and convinced that it can be fixed, but we need to take action now – business, as usual, is not good enough.

Tourism accounts for around 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions and air travel emits 80% of tourism’s greenhouse gasses, which is growing by 5% per year. We need change – NOW. Future blogs will discuss our ideas for changing the way we travel to and experience Sri Lanka and Maldives, and how we can all work together in order to "regenerate" our planet.
