TikaWeeks #22/2026: Sri Lanka update
Posted by John on 27th May 2026
From 25 May 2026, UK citizens will be issued with a free 30-day visa as we suggested a couple of weeks ago. Travellers from 40 countries are eligible for the free visa including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and USA. However, you will still need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before travelling to Sri Lanka as before.
Congratulations to Kulu Safaris for being included in The Travel Green List™ 2026, Wanderlust Magazine's annual showcase of impactful and responsible travel initiatives. The UK’s longest-running travel publication recognised Kulu Safaris, sited on the fringes of Yala National Park, in its ‘Ethical Stays’ category. The camp is 70% solar-powered with a 100% plastic-free policy. It is also comfortably low-key and comes with a patio for birdwatching. Guides trained in wildlife safeguarding run safaris in Yala, where they purposely avoid the crowded Block 1, as Tikalanka does for all of the Yala safaris managed by us.
The Kulu Safaris team led by founder Javana Fernando and ably supported by Camp Manager Premasiri and the dedicated expert guides, strike the balance between delivering a wonderful guest experience whilst putting the wildlife first. Sustainability is at the core of everything at the camp and on safari with Kulu Safaris. This recognition is a testament to the team’s unwavering dedication to protecting Sri Lanka's fragile environment and supporting local communities, initiatives that are driving positive change in the island's travel industry.
