The forthcoming cricket Test series between Sri Lanka and England has been postponed and the England players are to return home due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. In another COVID-19 development today, the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka has banned all travel from France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden and Austria to Sri Lanka from 15 to 29 March 2020. This is on top of the ban already in place for travel from Italy, South Korea and Iran.

Test series between Sri Lanka and England postponed

The forthcoming cricket Test series between Sri Lanka and England has been postponed and the England players are to return home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ECB said in a statement released today.

“At this time, the physical and mental wellbeing of our players and support teams is paramount. We will now look to bring them home to their families as soon as possible. These are completely unprecedented times, and decisions like this go beyond cricket.”

Travel ban to Sri Lanka imposed on certain European countries

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka has banned all travel from France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden and Austria to Sri Lanka from 15 to 29 March 2020.  This is on top of the ban already in place for travel from Italy, South Korea and Iran. The ban will commence on all flights arriving after 23.59 (Sri Lankan time) on 15 March 2020 and will end at 24.00 on 29 March 2020 (Sri Lankan time).

Three more people test positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka

Three more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe confirmed today. A 41-year-old man, who had recently returned from Germany, and two other returnees from Italy who were already in quarantine, have all tested positive for the virus. This brings the total number of people who have tested positive to COVID-19 in Sri Lanka to five.
