SRI LANKA - A NEW PEACEFUL AND UNITED ERA BEGINS
Sri Lanka officially declared the end of nearly three decades of internal conflict between
government forces and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in May 2009, hailing a new
peaceful era for a united island. We wish Sri Lanka and its people all the best in uniting
and developing the country, and we look forward to introducing more travellers to the traditional
and generous Sri Lankan hospitality!
SRI LANKA - NEW VISA REQUIREMENTS FROM 01 JANUARY 2012
As of 01 January 2012, the Sri Lankan government has introduced an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA),
which is an official authorisation for short visits to Sri Lanka. ETA holders will be issued a 30-day short
visit ETA at the port of entry in Sri Lanka. Foreign nationals, who intend to visit Sri Lanka for short stays
of up to six months, must obtain an ETA prior to arrival with effect from 01 January 2012. The ETA is issued
through an online system and no passport copies, documents or photographs are required, and there is no requirement
to endorse the ETA in your passport. Upon arrival, simply produce your passport to the immigration officer at
the port of entry. It is advisable to bring a copy of your ETA approval notice with you. Please go to
